History
Velomobile World was born out of passion. The founder, Jan Wijnen, has been passionate about velomobiles and bicycles since he was 14 years old. His first velomobile was an aluminum Alleweder, after which he bought a Quest. From 2003 to 2006, Jan Wijnen worked as a volunteer in Romania. Because of this, he came into contact with the opportunities that Romania has to offer. He also met his Dutch wife there, who worked in social projects as well, and together they went to Brazil to work on a project designed to help people set up a business. That’s where the idea to start a business was born. In 2012 he combined his two passions in Breaza in beautiful Romania: velomobiles and entrepreneurship. After 3 years of preparation they started the construction of the production facility in Romania in the early spring of 2012. The first velomobiles left the workshop 9 months later. This was a crazy time for them, they say: “We were finishing the construction and at the same time we were starting the production of velomobiles.”
At the end of 2018 an opportunity arose to distribute the Alpha 7 velomobile, designed by Daniel Fenn. From spring 2020 they have signed a contract with Raderwerk so they can also distribute the Milan SL and GT through the existing dealer network. Their slogan is “together for perfection”. In 2017, after 5 years of existence, they realized that they were focusing on perfection but never made it an official part of their company culture. After this realization, they turned it into their slogan.

His velomobile expeditions to Eastern Europe are something quite extraordinary. His help in Ukraine is outstanding. His rescue of the production mold of the Moby Dick velomobile developed by Ukrainian builder Oleksii Hanshyn is to be applauded.
It looks like better times are ahead for velonauts in the USA. Velomobile World has been able to arrange not only a new dealer, but also container shipping from Europe, making it much easier and more importantly cheaper to purchase a velomobile in the US and Canada.
