In December 2022, I visited Lauchringen, Germany, to meet the new SPEZI organizers and to see the venue where the show will be held in an old textile factory.
SPEZI show, or better to say Spezialradmesse, which is the official name, is a world-known show dedicated to special bikes like recumbents, trikes of all different types, velomobiles, reha bikes of various designs, and also folding, cargo, and electric bikes. For over 20 years, it was organized in the little town of Germersheim in the west of Germany near the Rhein river, but COVID has stopped it for three years. Founder and long-time organizer Hardy Siebecke decided to hand the show over to the new team. He found it in the guys from small swiss recumbent manufacturer Wolf und Wolf and the 25th edition of the SPEZI show will change place and will be held at the end of April in Lauchringen, in the south of Germany.
This is the first part of the report I did there. It is an interview with Franz and Gabriel about the show itself, about planned changes, and the venue in general. In the second part, which I will publish in the next few days, we will walk through all the important places with Franz. We will show you the hall, the test track, the party place, and the campsite, and we will talk about directions to get to the show and give you all the needed info.
The SPEZI show also has a new webpage finally where you can find all the needed info: www.SPEZIALRADMESSE.de
