In 2022 I reported from the French World Championships in Orgelet, and in 2023 from Lustenau in Austria. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to the British Deal this year. It was indeed a more than exciting event as the British recumbent community is large and focused on racing. In addition, they have several circuits dedicated to cycling or other non-motor sports. There were even group starts based on the speed of the riders, there were big battles, pursuit rides, but also crashes and forced withdrawals of race favourites.
If you didn’t attend the World Championship, which took place from 16 to 18 August 2024 at the Betteshanger circuit, I have prepared a selection of the most exciting videos you can find on YouTube. Thanks to Jack Watson, you also have the opportunity to see some great photographs that perfectly illustrate the great atmosphere that the racers experienced in the heated weather in the British Deal.
The big question now is where the next championship will be held. Rumours are circulating about Italy, but nothing is confirmed yet to my knowledge.
