CABDA (Chicagoland Area Bicycle Dealers Association) hosts a series of annual B2B trade shows exclusively for bicycle professionals, meaning recumbent fans and the general public had no opportunity to visit. These events are designed specifically for dealers, providing them with education, training, networking, and access to the latest industry products and trends.
In 2025, three main CABDA shows were scheduled. CABDA East took place on January 15-16 at the Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus, New Jersey, serving the New York City metro area. CABDA Midwest was held on February 12-13 at the Schaumburg Convention Center in the Chicago metro area. The last event of the year was the CABDA West on March 26-27 at the Expo at World Market Center in Las Vegas, Nevada where quite some recumbent manufacturers showed up.
With Cycle-Con not happening in 2025, recumbent manufacturers are looking for alternative opportunities to showcase their products in the U.S. market. While CABDA is focused on dealers rather than direct consumer interaction, it remains one of the key industry events where brands can connect with retailers and distributors.
Thanks to Zach Kaplan from Zach Kaplan Cycles and also thanks to the galleries from particular manufacturers, I can bring you a nice photo report from the show.
Zach said: “I attended the CABDA West trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada on the 26th and 27th of March 2025. This was my first time attending the CABDA Expo and the first time it was in Las Vegas. I hadn’t been to Las Vegas since the 2015 Interbike show and didn’t ever plan on coming back. The fact several recumbent trike brands would be exhibiting at CABDA West brought me back.
Catrike, HP Velotechnik, Steintrikes USA, and the Sunseeker brand of JBI.Bike were all present. Steintrikes had the largest booth with the most trikes, and even had a happy hour at the end of the first day where they supplied beer and pretzels.
CABDA is a smaller event than Interbike was but there was a good selection of exhibitors. It was nice catching up with people I hadn’t seen in years and there were also some interesting presentations. I’d consider going again despite how much I dislike visiting Las Vegas.”
We will see whether and when another purely recumbent show will happen in the US. For the moment we should be happy with some smaller events.
