In the last Laidback Bike Report, Mark Crews, CEO of WizWheelz—the company behind TerraTrike, Greenspeed, and Cycle-Con—has announced a significant update regarding the US-only recumbent show, which is the annual gathering for recumbent enthusiasts, dealers, and brands. After taking over the event three years ago, WizWheelz has decided to pause Cycle-Con for 2025. The decision reflects a desire to regroup, improve the event’s quality, and ensure its long-term success.
Why the Break?
Mark outlined two main goals when WizWheelz took over Cycle-Con from Charles Coyne:
- Raising the Industry Tide – Encouraging recumbent brands to participate and expanding the event’s reach.
- Improving Industry Communication – Strengthening relationships between recumbent brands and fostering collaboration.
While progress has been made on both fronts, the workload required to run Cycle-Con alongside managing TerraTrike and Greenspeed has proven challenging. To truly elevate Cycle-Con, the team at WizWheelz realized they need more time, resources, and possibly a partner to help manage the event effectively.
Plans for 2026
The hiatus will give WizWheelz a chance to reimagine Cycle-Con and build a stronger foundation for its return in 2026. Mark emphasized that the event is far from over. “Cycle-Con is very much alive and needs to be alive,” he said. The goal is to create a bigger, better event that not only attracts dealers but also engages more consumers, ultimately driving demand for recumbents.
Call for Collaboration
Mark mentioned the need for additional support. WizWheelz is open to partnerships or team expansions to help manage the event. Interested parties can reach out via email at [email protected].
Staying Updated
Despite the pause, the Cycle-Con website will remain active, serving as a hub for updates and announcements regarding the event’s future.
We can all hope for a better future for Cycle-Con because the last two years in Xenia, OH, have shown that the show really has potential. The atmosphere was great, the interesting things to see were plentiful, and organized and spontaneous rides were held both during and after the fair. In short, there was every reason to come to Cycle-Con.

Fingers crossed for 2026!
