HP Velotechnik introduces a new offering for trike enthusiasts in the U.S.: Shimano STEPS E-Bike kits. Available from their Iowa-based warehouse respectively through their dealer network, these kits make it easier than ever to electrify Gekko US models or retrofit other HP Velotechnik trikes, like the Scorpion series. The external wiring and battery holder rail are designed for straightforward installation, offering flexibility for both new and existing trike owners.
Two Options for Different Riders
Shimano STEPS E5000
This budget-friendly system is ideal for newcomers seeking moderate electric assistance. With a torque of 40 Nm and smooth power delivery, the E5000 offers a comfortable ride for everyday needs. Starting at $2,190 (including battery, adapter kit, and integrated B&M IQ-XS lighting), it’s a reliable and economical option.
Shimano STEPS EP801 Cargo
For riders prioritizing performance, the EP801 Cargo system provides a robust torque of 85 Nm and an impressive 400% assistance ratio. This top-tier system starts at $3,790 and includes a battery, adapter kit, and integrated B&M IQ-XS lighting.
Additional Features
- Both systems are compatible with a standard 418 Wh battery or an optional 630 Wh battery for extended range.
- Available as an option for new Gekko US Edition trikes or as a retrofit for existing HP Velotechnik trikes.
- Kits can be ordered immediately through HP Velotechnik’s U.S. retail partners.
To round out the information, it should be mentioned that this offer is only valid for customers in the USA and only for HP Velotechnik trikes. Additional electrification in Europe is only done by HP Velotechnik itself. Likewise, if a customer outside of Europe and the USA were interested in electrifying their trike, they would need to deliver it directly to HP Velotechnik headquarters.
